new resident of Kansas City, a native Virginian, and recently relocated
from North Carolina, Kettie has lived in many regions of the U. S. While
in the Seattle area, she exhibited paintings and won awards in Edmonds,
Washington. In Texas, Kettie had two "One-Woman Shows": The
Memorial Student Center at Texas A & M University, and the
Unitarian Fellowship at College Station, Texas as well as exhibiting in
local galleries. An acrylic painting was purchased as part of the
permanent collection of the Texas A & M Medical School. Also, her
paintings have been included in exhibits in Hastings, Nebraska, Chicago,
Illinois, and in Joplin, Missouri where she received an award for her
painting "Karmic Wanderings" from the Spiva Art Center.
As a student
in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Texas A &
M University, Kettie concentrated on design, painting, pottery making
and sculpture: clay, wood, bone and metal (arc and oxy-acetylene), as
well as photography and journalism. Minor study included philosophy and
education. She completed a B. A. in Art and Psychology (with Honors) at
Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska. Her psychology study included a
practicum, in art therapy, in the Psychiatric Department of Hastings
Regional Center-Nebraska State Hospital. As a art student, Kettie was
also involved in theater set design and costuming.

paintings are inspired by, and express my perception of, the limitless
beauty of the natural world around me. I endeavor to express my
perception of color and design as created by natural light and its
infinite possibilities".
