| I grew up in a family of eight
during the 60's and 70's era. My mother had art and music degrees that went
basically unused while she tended to six children, household,
kittens, dogs, etc. My father was a hardworking engineer who
traveled often and referred to himself as a "plumber".
Despite their many responsibilities, my parents shared their love
of the outdoors with my siblings and me. Each summer we spent two
to three weeks at the bluest lake in Iowa and almost weekly, we spent
afternoons at "the woods", some rural property located
east of Faucet, Missouri.
As an adult, I have less time each summer to
visit the "Lake" and no longer have legal access the
"Woods". However, I strive to make time to visit parks
and nature trails, and take drives to the country. Like
nature, oil painting allows me to connect to the little girl who
ran along the creek beds and woodland paths in search of fossils, wildflowers and colorful
stones for making artful mosaics..
Artwork I Admire
I am drawn to colorful
expressions of life and nature. I admire impressionistic landscapes
depicting the warmth and beauty of sunlight, lakes, rivers, trees,
snow and rain, flowers, even dirt roads, as well as thoughtful
portraits of human beings inspire me.
