Lyn Phariss has
been creating art since childhood. While growing up on a farm in northern
Missouri, necessity required her to be self-taught, until life placed her
in Kansas City. After marriage and while raising three children, working
full time in industry, she turned back to her love of art.
New opportunities abounded, and Lyn found herself studying
extensively with several well known artists in the Kansas City area taking
several classes a week..
After her retirement from her job she and
her husband moved to the country side near the Missouri Lake of the
Ozarks, where her husband built her studio. Lyn spends most days either
working in her studio or painting in the open air.
Over
the years she has studied in workshop situations with many nationally
known artists.
A master of several media, Lyn produces
works in watercolor, oil, acrylic, encaustic and pastel.. Her main focus
as of late is her love for plein air landscapes.
Lyn occasionally teaches small workshops but more often, she will
be traveling and painting. She travels Missouri, Kansas and is drawn to the western
United States where she paints en plein air, around Taos, New Mexico,
Colorado as well as abroad. She
has painted on location in Nova Scotia, Ireland, England, Scotland and
France.
