Paintings by
Charlene Pryor

In her "real" life she is a video editor at TV5 and has worked in television news for almost as long as she has been interested in horses--almost, but not quite, because her first remembrance of hugging a horse goes back to the age of two. So, in her "real, real" life she rides horses, cares for horses, loves horses and paints horses.
"Each horse has as much of an individual personality as a human, and the goal of my painting is to portray both the uniqueness of each horse and the universal equine spirit."
Charlene began painting seriously in 1990 when she studied under New York artist Robert Vaughn during his tenure in Kansas City. She also has been studying with Philomene Bennett for three years, and most recently with Phil Starke and Michael Bingham. "You never stop learning how to paint," she said, "and every teacher has something different to pass on".
